Greece's prime minister yesterday rejected an offer to negotiate an Aegean Sea dispute with Turkey, saying the case could be decided only by the world court.
"The International Court of Justice is the only secure means for a definitive and binding settlement" to the dispute, Prime Minister Costas Simitis said in an address at the National Press Club.
"In the case that Turkey chooses to have recourse to a judicial organ . . . Greece stands ready to participate."
But the Greek leader, who meets with President Clinton at the White House today, said it is up to Turkey to take the case to the world court because "for Greece there is no issue" over ...
