The Internet highway takes another twist today with the launch of LookSmart (http://www.looksmart.com), touted as the most consumer-friendly search engine yet by majority owner Reader's Digest.
LookSmart Ltd. of Melbourne, Australia, developed the service, which will start off providing users direct access to 85,000 World Wide Web sites.
The search engine is going against such established search tools as Lycos, Alta Vista and Yahoo. LookSmart's developers claim that their large editorial team will add Web sites to the database at a faster rate than the other search engines. They also say the way LookSmart uses Java will make it stand out.
