Hopes of bringing the Houston Astros to Northern Virginia were dashed Tuesday when voters in Houston agreed to build their team a new stadium.
But baseball insiders said the failure of major-league owners to accept a labor agreement with players yesterday holds the possibility that Northern Virginia will soon receive an expansion team.
Without the money the labor agreement would bring to poorer teams, the league could feel pressure to sell two cities expansion teams for up to $150 million apiece, the insiders said.
