NEW YORK -- American legal tactics played a key role in saving the day for Gucci, but it was planning ahead that was the first critical step of the company's defense in the face of a takeover attempt by LVMH.
Domenico de Sole, Gucci's chairman and chief executive officer, told law students at the Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School here Monday that it was the "American style of litigating disputes" that helped his company thwart the desires of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
