The U.S. Department of Transportation has issued a Request For Proposals to operationally test a multiple-application electronic payment system. The agency wants to identify and evaluate the issues associated with establishing partnerships between transit service providers and other entities in the development and use of such systems, with a specific focus on transit fare collection, parking payment, and electronic toll collection.
