NEW YORK -- Although digital cameras still account for only a tiny fraction of still camera sales, the segment is rapidly building momentum as a result of falling prices and greater consumer awareness.

The director of Agfa Corp's desktop products group, Christophe Fremont, comments that the popularity of digital cameras has grown along with the increasing number of consumers who now have access to the Internet.
