WASHINGTON -- A tick-borne illness that is nearly indistinguishable from early Lyme disease, but does not cause any of the disease's long-term sequelae, is emerging in the southern United States, according to experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Dubbed "Southern tick-associated erythema migrans-like illness," the mild disease has been documented in Texas, Missouri, North Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia.
