LAS VEGAS -- Many knee injuries in young athletes can be treated without surgery Dr. Gregory L. Landry said at a meeting on advances in pediatrics sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics California Chapter 2.
Isolated medial and lateral collateral ligament sprains and patellar dislocations are best treated initially with rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE), said Dr. Landry a pediatrician specializing in adolescent and sports medicine at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and a physician for the University of Wisconsin football team, both in Madison.
