The Spanish explorer Juan Ponce De León failed to locate the legendary "Fountain of Youth," but he was appointed governor of Borinquen in 1510. Four centuries later, a young Harlemite percussionist of Puerto Rican ancestry managed to find the authentic "Fountain of Rhythm" without a map or a compass, but his accomplishments have not been acknowledged by the uneducated purveyors of pop culture.
