NEW YORK -- There were plenty of derby hats at Monday's Surrealist Ball for the American Friends of the Israel Museum. But they were only on mannequins -- the serious lids were worn by the event's organizing committee.
Their surrealist-inspired headpieces were designed by Lemarie of Paris, a company that supplies feathers and accessories to various couture designers. Madge Miller, Judy Steinhardt, Barbara Lane and Maureen Cogan were among the committee members who opted for the more creative look.
And why not? The crowd of 650 raised $1.6 million at the Waldorf for the Israel Museum and celebrated its collection of Dada and surrealist art, which was ...
