SCRANTON, Pa., Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- One hundred and thirteen years ago, Scranton, Pennsylvania, became the site of the first commercially viable, all- electric trolley system in America. Today, Scranton -- the "Electric City" -- was charged with excitement as a vintage trolley burst through the ceremonial ribbon at the dedication ceremony of a new Trolley Museum.
The Electric City Trolley Station and Museum is the repository for two significant collections of historic trolleys. Ultimately, the collection will include up to 40 vehicles, several of which were in danger of being surrendered to dumping grounds.
