The Northern Territory's last known World War I veteran, Mr Rowcliff Thompson, died on the evening of 26 October in Alice Springs. He was 104. Born on 11 May 1895, Mr Thompson enlisted on 7 November 1916 and was assigned as a Private to the 6th Reinforcements, 38th Battalion at Bendigo, Victoria.
