Union Rails South announced today Balfour Beatty Major Projects as the successful contractor for East Kent, the last civil engineering contract on Section 1 of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL). Known as Contract 440 and worth around [pound]75 million this contract is for the construction of 16 kilometres of the CTRL between the village of Sevington, east of Ashford and the Channel Tunnel terminal at Cheriton.
