Oct. 30 -- U.S. ATTORNEY INTERVENES IN SUIT AGAINST BUZAS: The U.S. Attorney's Office for Utah has intervened in a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by two women against Salt Lake Buzz owner Joe Buzas, hoping to defend the legality of the Violence Against Women Act.

Heather Alwine and Sachiko Myers have sued Buzas under the act, which allows women to sue for civil rights violations if they are victims of gender-based assaults.

Buzas and the baseball team have attacked the act as unconstitutional, arguing Congress exceeded its authority in passing the 1994 law. Federal prosecutors, while not advocating for either ...
