Meredith Monk may be the most misunderstood creative artist working today. That's because she's so good at everything she does. Impossible to categorize, for more than 30 years she's been singing, composing, writing and directing her unique brand of musical theater, making films and visual art.
She's even a certifiable genius, having received a prestigious MacArthur Foundation fellowship, the so-called "genius grant," in 1995. And she's won devoted fans around the world through performances and recordings.
