Today is Opening Day at Fenway Park. It's also the opening salvo in Save Fenway Park's 1999 campaign to preserve the historic ballyard.
"We'll be there and we'll be right in front of the Green Monster," said John Valianti, one of the founders of the grassroots group aiming to get the Red Sox brass to renovate Fenway Park instead of building a new stadium and bulldozing the 87-year-old sports facility.
Save Fenway Park members will hold a rally today on Lansdowne Street before the Sox home opener, hoping to remind people of the team's plans to replace the venerable ballpark - an effort the group hopes to block.
