Article: Church leaders decry human tragedy in Kosovo.

As most Christians prepare to mark Easter tomorrow, Bernard Cardinal Law invoked the suffering in Kosovo in his Easter message yesterday as Catholic bishops collectively restated their opposition to the death penalty.

"Among the many fleeting images of the unfolding human tragedy that is Kosovo, I was particularly moved by the picture of an older woman fingering her white, plastic Rosary," wrote Law, who is celebrating Easter Mass at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. "In the midst of what must be for her a living death, she turned to our Lord and His Blessed Mother for strength, for consolation and for meaning."
