Even Mother Nature wanted George Strait to have a happy birthday.
The sun beamed down on the genial country singer and his successful package tour yesterday as he celebrated turning 47 with 47,000 fans at Foxboro Stadium.
Strait elegantly capped a 10 1/2-hour day filled with good weather, good vibes and good country music.
The good guy in the black hat from Texas was all plainspoken class in a set that contained the tex mex flavors of "Maria," the playful "Check Yes or No" and a rootin' tootin' version of Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried."
With a tight 11-piece backing band tuned to perfection the crowd swayed along to favorites like bopper ...
