Woodstock, Vt., nestled between leafy-green hills and the babbling Ottauquechee River in central Vermont, is the essence of New England spirit.
Located 14 miles west of White River Junction, Woodstock is only 140 miles northwest of Boston. An ideal retreat for the winter, it offers endless activities, ranging from skiing and hiking to antiques shopping and historical tours.
The town was settled more than 200 years ago by farmers, preachers, millers and merchants. Two dozen shops and businesses flourished around the town green, a lush slice of open space for people-watching and relaxing. Many of the stores today operate out of those 19th century brick buildings.
