The final days of October were truly remarkable. Over a six-day period, the local weather consisted of golden, cool mornings and wonderfully comfortable late afternoons. A hunt for squirrels in a friend's hardwoods delivered an incident never before experienced - which is saying a mouthful considering that I've walked, crawled or sat in forests and fields since I was 5 years old.
