CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Pentose Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today reported new preclinical data demonstrating the utility of INACTINE(TM) compounds for viral inactivation of red blood cell concentrates and solvent detergent (SD) treated plasma. These studies, including both in vitro laboratory studies and in vivo animal models, provide the basis for Phase I human trials of INACTINE(TM)-treated red blood cells, which are scheduled to begin later this year.
