Federal safety investigators in Washington expected to work through the night lifting data from one of EgyptAir Flight 990's critical "black boxes" yesterday, after Navy salvage crews pulled the damaged recorder off the ocean floor at about 5:30 a.m.
The Boeing 767's sophisticated flight data recorder, which was damaged on one end, "has data on it," safety investigators said, but they refused to say whether they expected to recover information from all of the more than 150 separate categories the tape-based unit is designed to track.
