NEW YORK-The antique influence in area rug fashion has been casting its golden glow in rug racks and on rug sales for the past several years.
While determining exactly where such a trend starts is always difficult, Mark Saley, marketing director for rugs at ABC Carpet & Home here, said that ABC began to be involved about seven years ago, "not to make handmade rugs that looked old, but to make rugs the way they used to be made, using handspun wool and vegetable dyes."
