Nov. 11 -- REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT DONE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE: Joseph Podell's deal with South Bend's Urban Enterprise Zone called for him to fix up an old, abandoned factory building within five years.
Podell said Wednesday he has completed the project in just two-and-a-half years.
He is using the building at 3680 W. Sample St. as the home base for his masonry contracting operation, Joseph Podell Co.
The 17,000-square-foot building was formerly used as a foundry by Torrington Co., which vacated the site in 1984.
