WASHINGTON - Volvo Cars of North America Inc. is recalling most of the 1998 cars it sold to fix two safety defects. The fixes are a front airbag that may deploy because of static electricity and a headlight switch that may fail.
About 124,000 Volvo S70, V70 and C70 cars are affected by the airbag recall. Dealers will install an additional ground wire to prevent an inadvertent deployment on the passenger side.
Volvo spokesman Dan Johnston said no serious injuries were reported in the incidents that have occurred.
