Nov. 13 -- TOTAL SPORTS PLANS TO ISSUE IPO NEXT YEAR: Raleigh-based Total Sports Inc. completed a major funding deal this week led by one of Silicon Valley's largest venture capital firms and followed Friday by filing papers for an initial public stock offering.
The two-year-old new media firm raised $37 million, including $10 million from Technology Crossover Ventures of Palo Alto, Calif. Other investors included Charlotte's Piedmont Venture Partners, an early Total backer, which is the company's largest shareholder .
