Nov. 15 -- TANDY-MICROSOFT COLLABORATION ISN'T FIRST FOR COMPANIES: When Tandy and Microsoft announced their agreement last week to sell Microsoft Internet access services through Radio Shack outlets, it brought back memories of the two companies' collaboration two decades earlier.
"Our work with Radio Shack really goes to the very beginnings of Microsoft," recalled Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates at Thursday's news conference. "We had all of 10 employees when I flew down to Radio Shack and signed an agreement there to work on Microsoft Basic running on the TRS 80," Tandy's first personal computer.
