Earnings growth of better than 30 percent has become a staple of a Staples Inc. earnings report.

And there were few surprises yesterday, as the Framingham-based office supply retailer posted third-quarter earnings of $95.4 million, or 20 cents a share, up 34 percent from $69.3 million, or 15 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Sales rose 25 percent to $2.4 billion from $1.9 billion a year ago.
