Nov. 12 -- GRANITEVILLE, S.C. -- With the most technologically advanced Bridgestone tire plant in the world as a backdrop, Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. celebrated the grand opening of its newest facility Thursday.
Company officials marked the occasion by announcing a technological breakthrough in tire manufacturing: a new system called ACTAS that will put the plant on the road to producing 25,000 tires per day by the end of next year.
