Another EC directive affecting the use of polymer materials is working its way towards implementation. Like the directive on end of life vehicles it is not addressed specifically at polymers but will have a far reaching effect on the engineering plastics business in particular.
Very soon now, OEMs and moulders, depending on their throughput, will be obliged to re-use a part of their plastics waste. The Packaging Waste and End of Life Vehicles directives have decreed it.
Also working its way towards implementation throughout Europe is another directive which will increase the scope of the obligation to recycle - the WEEE directive.
