Nov. 18 -- Crescent Resources, perhaps best known for its residential and commercial projects in the Charlotte area, is expanding into shopping center development.

The announcement Wednesday came on the heels of its disclosure about a month ago of plans to launch a multifamily development division.

Formed 30 years ago by Duke Energy to manage 270,000 acres of land primarily in the vicinity of power-generation plants, Crescent has become a major commercial and residential developer in five states.
