Butch was a fighter. You could tell by his misshapen ears. He had found his way to the Brandts' household as a stray, his ears already gnarled from numerous cat fights, but he always seemed loving and gentle to his adopted family. Despite attempts to convert him to an indoor pet, he never took well to living inside and was let out from time to time. Since he was such a fighter, everyone assumed that, when they found him lying immobile under the bushes at the corner of the Brandts' home, it was a result of another fight and he would soon be on his feet again.
