A new report prepared by the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University, "Immigrants and the New Economy in Massachusetts," offers persuasive evidence that immigration continues to prove vital to our economy and that the anti-immigrant strategy pursued by many in Washington is bad public policy for our nation and our region.
Were it not for immigration, the report shows, New England's labor force would be 200,000 people smaller today than it was nearly a decade ago. Even with thousands of immigrant workers, unemployment in Massachusetts stands at 2.9 percent, a historic low.
