"The minute you start a garden," said Jamaica Kincaid, "the pen comes to mind, and paper, too." Best known for her prize-winning novels about the West Indian experience, the Antigua-born author is in town this week to share her passion for gardening - and to promote her latest volume, "My Garden (Book)" (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, $23).
Though countless green thumbs happily till gardens without a thought of writing about the experience, in two Boston-area appearances this week Kincaid will make the case that words and writing are a natural hybrid.
