3Com Corporation has released the latest version its Gigabit EtherLink server network interface card (NIC), the 3C985B-SX. The new edition was created using a 1.3 software upgrade and features DynamicAccess server technology for fibre-based networks. 3Com Corporation claims that the new NIC outperforms competitor's products by an average of 30% for both bi- directional traffic flow and downstream traffic flow tests and achieves a 44% increase in performance over the previous version of the product.
