Japan's Koseisho (Ministry of Health and Welfare) has said that a new term is needed to draw a description between what are often referred to as nutritional supplements in the west (including vitamin and mineral products), and the agency's authorized "health food" and "nutritional supplement" categories. The Koseisho's Study Group on Handling of Nutritional Supplements recently held its seventh meeting in Tokyo to discuss the issue, and the majority of committee members were in favor of including a new category in the legislature, reports Pharma Japan.
