It's cheaper and faster than a taxi
Public transportation is one of Chicago's great bargains. You can get ride any bus or rapid transit train (the El) in the city, including the trains from O'Hare and Midway airports into downtown, for $1.50. They're not only far less expensive than a $30 (and up) taxi ride but, unless you are traveling in the middle of the night, they will also get you downtown in half the time.
