CARACAS, Venezuela - Kitchen pots and spoons are proving to be powerful political weapons in Venezuela, where residents last week set off a cacophonous display of frustration at a paralyzed economy and President Hugo Chavez's radical political agenda.
The occasion was a televised speech in which Mr. Chavez recounted his first 300 days in office. Shortly after it started, many Venezuelans went to their windows, pots and spoons in hand, and began clanging them furiously.
Others took to the streets, where motorists honked their horns. Protesters shouted and tossed firecrackers.
