Dec. 4 -- SEATTLE -- For many of the developing countries hoping this week's global trade talks would open up the final frontier of agricultural trade, the suggested results were far from a bumper crop.
Almost no other sector raised such expectations among participants in the four-day meeting of the World Trade Organization. And few areas of industry spark such volatile emotions as the flow of wheat, sugar, rice, and more specialized crops -- even growth-hormone-fed cattle -- across borders.
