Embryology laboratories may be under tighter regulation in the future. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is working on a model voluntary certification program for these labs and is also considering a mandatory program for tacking pregnancy success rates of assisted reproductive technology
(ART) facilities.
These two efforts were mandated by the Fertility Clinic Success Rate and Certification Act of 1992. The law's aim is to ensure the quality of ART services and furnish consumers with reliable information on the success rates of individual clinics.
