According to North Africa Journal, on December 1, 1999, the British Foreign Office Minister Mr. Peter Hain said his country is seeking a bigger share of trade with Morocco, a market which he said offered great potential for British firms. Hain told a news conference after talks with Moroccan government officials that the volume of two-way trade between the two countries rose almost fivefold between 1997 and 1998. Britain is the third largest investor and trading partner with Morocco after France and the United States.
