The Parties to the Montreal Protocol, who met in Beijing, China, from November 29 to December 3, reached an agreement on a reduction in the production and consumption of ozone-depleting compounds, namely, hydrochloroflurocarbons (HCFCs), methyl bromide, bromochloromethane, chlorofluorocarbons (CFC), halon and other halogen gases.
