Dec. 17 -- Any of the Bay Area's major rail passenger lines could theoretically be expanded to run across the Bay Bridge, an engineering consultant will tell regional transportation officials today.
The conclusion, part of a report to be presented to the Bay Area Toll Authority this afternoon, gives a boost to those have been clamoring for rail service on the span as part of a major seismic retrofitting project.
