SEATTLE -- Digital cameras make it easy to incorporate photography into clinical practice, but the results are not always picture perfect.
The positive aspects of the new technology may still be outweighed by its negatives, Dr. Marc Berger said at a meeting of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.
Digital cameras are being used for such things as documenting changes in medical problems over time, storing images in computers, e-mailing photos for consults, or providing inexpensive pictures of patients' faces for charts or the doors of their rooms in nursing homes, said Dr. Berger of Pennsylvania State University, Hershey.
