DENVER, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Columbine Memorial Scholarship Fund, originally seeded with a $25,000 contribution from the Denver Rocky Mountain News, has raised over $550,000 and has now been set up as an endowment to fund 16 scholarships totaling $24,000 in the Jefferson County School District.
The fund, announced on April 22 in a front-page letter to the community from News Publisher and CEO Larry Strutton, will award this annual amount for the next 25 years. The Jefferson Foundation, a community-based independent partner with the Jefferson County School District, was the interim administrator of the fund and processed all donations.
