HANOI, Dec 20 Asia Pulse - Work has started on the Ho Chi Minh City-Phnom Penh section of the Trans-Asia Highway - the road that is seen as key to the promotion of cross-border trade in the region.
Ground-breaking ceremonies were held in both Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh, which were attended by Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, respectively.
The road, which is scheduled to be finished by 2003, represents a significant step in the development of ASEAN, Viet Nam's Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said at the ceremony.
