Dec. 19--Near Dudley Square, in a space where his late father trimmed Afro haircuts, Jacob "Yacub" Abdal-Khallaq hopes to turn an old Roxbury barbershop into a new dot-com retail business.
The Abdal-Khallaq family has a long history in brick-and-mortar retail. In the 1960s, Jacob's father, Malik, added to his hair salon a store, A Nubian Notion, which today sells everything from music and books to jewelry and Kwanzaa greeting cards.
Now, like many other mom-and-pop stores, A Nubian Notion Inc. wants to try its hand at e-commerce.
