EAST HANOVER, N.J., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation announced today that it submitted a new drug application (NDA) to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for Starlix(R) (nateglinide), a novel oral medication for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Starlix is a derivative of the amino-acid phenylalanine and it has a chemical and pharmacologic structure distinct from any other oral antidiabetic currently available. Novartis has simultaneously filed a regulatory submission for Starlix with the European Medicines Evaluation Agency (EMEA).
