Despite playing for the losing White team in the Black/White scrimmage at Byrd Stadium yesterday, redshirt junior quarterback Ken Mastrole retained his first-string status as Maryland concluded its second round of spring practices under Ron Vanderlinden.
Mastrole led the White team to a 10-0 halftime lead but failed to generate any points in the second half. Sophomore tailback LaMont Jordan, checked throughout the first half, scored a touchdown and helped the Black team earn a 10-10 tie at the end of regulation, and sophomore kicker Brian Kopka nailed two 42-yard field goals in a field-goal shootout to secure Black's victory.
