The name "Lalique" has always been synonymous with the most adventurous, exotic and sensuously exciting jewelry ever made.
Rene Lalique (1860-1945) revolutionized jewelry design at the turn of the century with then-strange decorations of bats, black swans and composite women; unusual jewels and materials such as opals, horn, enamel and glass; and phenomenal technical virtuosity. In effect, he created modern jewelry by pushing the medium's limits and giving it the presence of miniature sculpture.
